5 Reasons to Watch PonchTV

blog header

I am super excited to announce the relaunch of my Youtube Channel, PonchTV.  I started my original Youtube Channel in 2013 when I started Ponch Cosmetics.  However, I was never very comfortable in my videos so I only posted a few videos and then I stopped.  I eventually chose to blog instead.

Well, I am elated to disclose that at the beginning of this year, I decided to try my luck with video again.  I discovered that Youtube is one of the best ways to connect my message with my audience.  It is only second to Google as an online search engine.  That means that as a business owner, there is a tremendous opportunity for growing a brand online.

If you like to watch videos online, but you’re somewhat disinclined to subscribe or follow new channels that are not as popular, then I am going to give you five great reasons why you should watch PonchTV. I truly believe that I will be able to add more value via video.  Therefore, I would like to answer any questions that you might have about my channel.  Here are my top five reasons why you should watch and ultimately subscribe:

  1. Get to know me. Youtube is the best way to meet someone without actually meeting them in person.  If you’re an introvert with a strong passion for skincare and beauty, then you get to watch all of my videos about my many skin care solutions without having to actually get out to meet me.  Trust me, I get it!  I’m an introverted extrovert if that makes any sense.  I love meeting people, but I hate going out.  In business, you can’t make it unless you deal with people so I have to force myself to go out sometimes.  Youtube allows me to get out without actually getting out.  We can become friends online and avoid any awkward encounters.  If this describes you, then I think you should follow.  We just might be kindred spirits.  Plus, I think I talk about the industry in such a relatable way that if you have any interest at all, then my channel is just right for you.
  2. Event updates.  Even though I don’t like to get out, my business forces me to from time to time.  In this industry, travel is necessary to learn and grow.  I typically attend many beauty events to stay informed of any new products hitting the market.  I have not attended BeautyCon yet, but it is next on my agenda.  I have attended various other events and conferences.  If you’re a beauty addict like myself who has never attended, then the entire experience would be like we are attending together.  If you have attended any of the events that I mention, then we can discuss your thoughts about the event to see if we had similar experiences.  Occasionally, I host events in different cities or set up booths at different conferences.  You have an opportunity to be the first to know when I host or attend my events.
  3. Product hauls/reviews.  If you have gotten this far with this blog post, then you’re probably a product junkie like me.  I can’t lie.  I have a problem!  I am skincare obsessed.  I also love makeup.  I don’t feel one bit of embarrassment about it.  If you like to be informed about new products or even old products, then you should watch my channel.  I will be reviewing new and old products and exposing everything in my arsenal with hauls.  If this sounds like fun to you, then you need to tune in to my channel.
  4. Tutorials.  I can’t lie tutorials aren’t really my thing, but my followers love them so I have had to do them to appease my followers.  If you want me to be your muse before you try a particular product, then that’s a great reason to watch.  I will go before you and make sure that all is well with a product for you so that you know whether you should smash (buy) or pass (walk away).
  5. Results.  Finally, the one thing that I am certain about with my skincare choices is that I get results.  I have been studying skincare products since I was about 16 years old (going through puberty and acne).  I am forty-five now and I can honestly say that I have had visible results.  If you’re struggling with skin issues, then you should watch so that we can tackle your problem together.  I can help you.  As a matter of fact, I want to help you because GREAT SKIN MATTERS!  If you’re up for the challenge, then you should go subscribe to PonchTV today!  Here’s the link to the channel  www.youtube.com/c/PonchTV!

Eight Things You Could Do If You Win The $1.6 Billion Lottery

You don’t have to be a gambler to know that the Texas Lottery Mega Million Jackpot is now estimated at $1.6 Billion.  It doesn’t matter if you gamble or not nor does it matter that the odds of winning are a mere 1 and 302, 575, 350.   I think a person would probably have better luck winning an Oscar Award than winning the lottery.  These odds are crazy, but people still play in the hopes that they can win.

I never play the lottery.  I rarely ever buy scratch-offs, but the thought of what I could do with $1.6 billion has given me night sweats just thinking about it.  I thought about how many people won the lottery and became broke within years of winning.  I didn’t want to share their same fate.

So, I started to seriously consider the great things people could do if one was to win the lottery.  You can’t even spend this kind of money in one lifetime.  This kind of money is generational.  It could set you and your family up for ages.  However, this money is also considered a blessing to be used to help others.  When we are blessed, we aren’t supposed to hoard our blessings.  Therefore, you must be strategic.  Here are a few life-changing suggestions for you in case you have the lucky numbers:

  1. Pay  your tithes first and foremost.  If you are a spiritual person, then you know that there was a higher being involved in the receipt of that blessing.  The best way to pay it forward is to start by giving back to the church.  Ten percent won’t put a dent in your billions. So, why not?
  2. Pay your student loans or your children’s if you have them.  Education is a blessing, but it is so expensive.  I have incurred so much debt just in student loans alone.  Even though both of my daughter’s are done with college, they now have student loan debt. The very first thing I would do if I win the lottery is erase all of our student loan debts.  Then I would offer to pay someone else’s. You could also go back to school and pay cash.
  3. Get life insurance policies  for your family.  If you have it already, increase yours by $250,000 each.  That’s a bit extravagant for life insurance, but it’s better to have too much insurance than not enough.  My current policy is only $25,000.  These days funerals are expensive so I don’t want anyone to have any trouble burying us.  My children will have instructions to NOT have an extravagant funeral for me, but they will be able to bury me without having to start a “Go Fund Me” Page.  Make sure you have life insurance and a will instructing your loved ones on how to handle your estate.
  4. Get the best medical insurance you can find.  In addition to costly student loans, medical expenses are right up there with them.  I want to make sure that we have enough medical, dental and life insurance to protect us against any type of major bill that might affect our lives.  Make sure your family is covered with medical, dental, vision, and prescription benefits.
  5. Donate to our homeless. Please don’t believe that all homeless people are lazy, addicted to drugs, or crazy.  You never know someone’s story, but be willing to help them anyway.  It’s not our job to judge.  We are here to be of service.  What better way to help than to use your newfound wealth with the less fortunate!
  6. Get involved with politics.  Almost every single amenity that we enjoy in life is regulated in some way by the government.  Most people don’t get involved with politics because they don’t understand.  One thing that the rich know that we don’t is that you have to be involved in the process to remain rich.  Now that you have millions, you might want to protect that money.  The best way to do that is to get involved in politics. Donate to your state and local campaigns of your respective political party. Sit back watch how you now have influence in your every day life.
  7.  Start a business.  Leave a legacy for your kids and their kids.  Ponch Cosmetics  is my baby.  If I had a million dollars I would infuse that money in my business so that I can finally be able to compete with ninja brands like Revlon, MAC, Stila, Avon, Loreal, and Mary Kay.  A $1 million cash infusion could easily take my business to the next level.  This could set my children up in more ways that just playing with the lottery.
  8. Finally, take one year off and travel around the world.  They say travel is the best teacher.  I must agree. The best way to learn about people and other societies is to just go and immerse yourself in their culture.  Then just explore this huge world and absorb all you can from it.  You will then gain the best education about life.

To win the lottery doesn’t just mean that its a blank check to just go ham with a lot of money.  The true blessing is in your ability to give back and do more.  Don’t think it’s a chance to just buy cars, clothes, jewelry and things that don’t mean anything.  This is your chance to give and do like you’ve never done before and watch how your blessing will keep going for another 30 generations.

Have you ever won a lump sum before?  Tell us how you would spend your billions if you won the lottery.

BeyChella 2018: Sorry Not Sorry!

img_2470

Whether you attended Coachella in the flesh or watched Beyonce’s awe-inspiring performance on Youtube, there’s no denying the fact that Bey wasn’t playing games with her performance at the festival.  Not only did the performer make history by becoming the first black woman to headline at Coachella, she also killed by incorporating her feminist and political themes throughout her performances.  Meanwhile, she slayed the stage with her beauty and stylish digs to match.

When you are affectionately called “Queen Bey” and you walk out on stage in Cleopatra costume and you can makes one feel your energy through your presence, then you have successfully proven your grandeur as an artist.  One thing is for certain, two things are for sure, if you don’t walk away from a Beyonce’ show feeling like you should go harder, then you need to check your pulse.  You are obviously not on this planet!

The performance lasted for two hours and it was the most dynamic display of  advancement for the culture by far.  Beyonce’s attention to detail and precise execution of choreography was epic.  She told a story that summarized twenty years of her career and chart topping songs incorporating the sounds of other artists.  She shared the stage with Destiny’s Child, Solange, and her husband, Jay-Z.  Even though the show was not completely about the BeyHive, you still walk away knowing that it is all about Bey!

If you’re a woman that loves music, beauty, culture, and the overall advancement of women, then you need to watch Beyonce’s Coachella 2018 performance.  You will never be prouder of the fact that a wife, mother of three, and winner of many awards showed up and showed out at the festival.  It wasn’t just a win for her; it was a win for all women.  Her performance belied the greatness that we all have within us.  Nevertheless, she continues to prove that one woman can be fierce and unapologetically great and create her own rules. There is no reason to be sorry for that…..

Share your comments below and tell us what you thought of Beyonce’s 2018 Coachella performance.

What I look forward to in 2017

on-the-beach-1387746-1279x852

Last year I had so much for which to be thankful.  Looking back, I can’t help but think about all the highs and lows.  The first part of the year is always the most exciting for me.  That is the time in which I start to put my plans in motion.  I use previous years to build upon for the next.

Last year, I took some time off to get myself together.  I went on a few trips to reflect on my life and try to prioritize my business. The time away helped me to come up with some pretty good ideas for the future.  Oftentimes, it’s  in those still moments that you have your greatest moments of clarity.  I have learned that it is critical to my growth and elevation.

As this month comes to an end, I am excited to share what I have to look forward to in 2017.  I have planned my entire year and it is going to be an exciting one.  For the next twelve months, I hope to engage my readers more by allowing you to get more involved with my posts.  I have a few giveaways that involve products for men and women in the Spring.  I will be connecting with more entrepreneurs for my first Pop Up Shop in April.  I’m excited about the photo shoot for Ponch Cosmetics’ Spring lipstick line.  Finally, I plan to end the year by giving back with my event that I haven’t planned in two years! I hope that it will be the highlight of this year.

Stay tuned to find out what all I have in store.  I hope to make 2017 as stimulating for my readers as well as for me.  Last year was great, but 2017 will be my best year ever! If not, it won’t be due to lack of effort on my part.  What do you look forward to in 2017?

Interview With Brandis J, Emcee of 2nd Annual Faces of Beauty Extravaganza

photo (1)

Last year was the first year for the Faces of Beauty annual charity fundraiser to help raise funds for Faces of Beauty Foundation.  Ponch Cosmetics is the host of this spectacular event in which we raise funds to help support programs that aid victims of domestic violence.

Brandis Jamerson was the emcee last year and she did such a phenomenal job that we decided to bring her back again.  I recently caught up with Brandis J and here is what she had to say about the event:

Ponch: You emceed the event last year? What led you to do this event again?

Brandis: After the event last year, I received so much encouragement from friends and associates that were at the show. I even received one of the hottest shoutouts in Facebook history from an old classmate. So when the opportunity presented itself I was slightly nervous… But after I thought about the fun we had last year… I just began thinking of how to bring it again this year!

Ponch:  Was this your first time emceeing an event:

Brandis: Yes, it was my first time emceeing and I was a nervous wreck! There is a big difference between doing the welcome at the 3 o’clock service and emceeing a large event.

Ponch:  Did you ever get stage fright?  What happened?

Brandis:  When the time came for me to get the show started all I can remember were seeing all those faces just looking at me and it was definitely intimidating! I just remember my voice shaking and me ready to run back off the stage… After I came back and the crowd begin to engage, it got easier.

Ponch:  You participated at rehearsal last month.  You looked like you were having a good time.  Can we expect some of that foolery at the event this year?

Brandis:  Of course! Anytime I’m in the midst of good company I will be an advocate for a good time! Again, it goes back to the crowd and their participation. The models that are participating this year have great personalities, attitudes, and it was easy to come in and cut up with them! So as long as the attendees get into the show, we have no choice but to GO UP ON A TUESDAY!

Ponch: This is a Bachelor/Bachelorette auction. Do you think this is a battle of the sexes?

Brandis: There is no battle when there’s a woman involved… We always win. Lol

Ponch: Who do you think is going to win?

Brandis: It’s hard to call it because there are so many different flavors for bidders to pick from, and who knows? There are some sneaky ballers out there that may like the shy type or may like their men light skinded… lol I’m thinking I may get the largest amount on the silent auction tho!

Ponch:  Do you think this is a good idea for singles looking for love or to just have fun?

Brandis:  Folks need to come to the event with the mind frame of having fun! If a love story comes out of it then we will give them a shout out at the next show… But one of my disclaimers for the event will be to not expect a relationship as an outcome to your bid… Now what they do with their opportunity is up to them… *sips tea*

Ponch:  What do you consider sexy about a guy?

Brandis: What’s physically sexy to me will always include tattoos… I’ve always been a fan of good art work…. What’s mentally sexy is a man’s ability to show compassion towards me… Unfortunately that combination has been hard to find.

Ponch:  Well, we do have a few studs with A LOT of tattoos! So, if you could build a guy, what would he look like and how would he be?

Brandis: This is a loaded question…

Ponch: Since you’re funny, how important is finding a guy who is funny, too?

Brandis: Any prospect of mine would HAVE to have a sense of humor or we are going to run out of things to talk about real quick.

Ponch: Would you ever ask a guy out?

Brandis: At this point in my life I wouldn’t ask a guy out because that sets a precedent that the man doesn’t have to take on a leadership role within the relationship.   I need a man that’s not afraid to open his mouth!

Ponch:  Who is your celebrity crush?

Brandis: Zac Efron

Ponch:  If you were a guy, would you bid on any of the ladies in the auction?

Brandis:  Heeelllll Yeeahhhh!!! Lol All of em thick wit it! They’re very beautiful ladies.

Ponch:  If you could go back to last year’s event, what would you do differently?

Brandis: I would have spent more time with the models before the show so I can get a better understanding of that makes them tick. That would make it easier to promote their personalities and make them more appealing to the bidders.

Ponch:  Do all your comedic moments spring from the truth?

Brandis:  Yes, 9 times out of 10 I find laughter out of the truth and what has become reality! And if you were to meet some of my family members it would be evident that DNA definitely plays a large part as well! 45

Ponch:  Which person in the auction will make your job easy? (This person just makes you think of funny ish)

Brandis:  DJ Demarcus Sharp is a natural fool and I am so excited about working with him! My other classmate Brian Davis is an inspiration also! They tend to think outside the box!

Ponch: Who are your favorite female comedians? Why?

Brandis: Sommore has always been a favorite for so many reasons! Not only is she representing for the thicker chicks, but her delivery is what makes her comedy stand out. She is blunt, but not abrasive… That is an art form these days.

Ponch: How important is crowd engagement when you’re emceeing?

Brandis: As I mentioned earlier, the crowd’s enthusiasm is so important and is necessary for a successful event! They have got to come ready to participate in this positive movement.

Ponch:  What song gets you excited and ready to go off?

Brandis: Too many songs to count! Lol It ranges from Taylor Swift to Z-Ro. I love music and if the beat is on point then I’m enjoying it!

Ponch:  How important is music when doing an event such as this?

Brandis:     Music sets the tone… The music can make the crowd remember a time  or moment… or it may awaken their ratchet side… either way it helps creates a mood and I know that DJ Demarcus will be able to assess his crowd and give them something to groove to.

Ponch: What’s your educational background?  Have you ever thought of a career in broadcasting?

Brandis: I graduated from Stephen F. Austin with a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Administration. I have a passion for the hospitality industry, and I love the idea of traveling. I did attempt, while attending SFA, to become a radio personality with a local station here in Longview. Long story short, being behind a microphone and speaking between songs is not as easy as one might imagine… It takes practice to become an effective radio personality.

Ponch:  What are your thoughts on the issue of domestic violence?

Brandis:   Domestic Violence is an issue that is becoming too common in our communities. Recently I have had the opportunity to be educated on how domestic violence not only affects the person who is being physically and /or mentally abused, but it also affects the friends and family that are around them during this difficult time. In a lot of cases the idea of leaving is not as easy as some try to make it out to be. There is an uncertainty of how the person will survive without their abuser, sometimes there are children involved and the abused doesn’t want to disturb their children’s home environment. There are so many reasons that can deter an abused person to get the help that they need. As a society, and especially as a community, we need to work together to be a form of assistance to those who have been in these violent situations to get out safely.  I’ve experienced domestic violence personally, and I was blessed to get out of that situation before it was too late. So I have a soft spot for those who are facing this on a daily basis and living in fear of the next attack. That’s why I plan to give my all on that stage December 20th! I want to play my role in this effort to raise money for the victims of this horrible crime.

Ponch:  What’s next for Brandis J?

Brandis:  Hopefully a nap… I’m tired!

What’s next for me is continuing to work with the members of the women’s organization “We’re S.A.S.S.I.” to be a present entity in the Longview Community. We want to provide an environment for the personal growth of women of all races and ages! Please be on the lookout beginning in January 2015. We have some great ideas on the horizon, and we look forward to empowering the women of East Texas through group activity and volunteer efforts!
