I shop for makeup like I’m at the supermarket. Each month I do a monthly cosmetics haul. First, I go to Ulta and check to see which products I haven’t tried and might want to try. Next, I check to see if there are any new products that have come out yet. I do the same thing at Sephora, by the way. Some months I alternate because they each may have different campaigns running. Finally, I go through all of my stuff and decide which products are best for me during the particular season. If it sounds borderline compulsive, it is! Then next month repeat!
This month I was looking through all of my Summer products and realized that I had the same color theme working in my stash. I tend to gravitate towards hot pinks, berry, purple, and reds. I love color. The problem is that I like loud color and I should be changing a little based on the seasons. For Summer, in particular, I should be wearing more nudes, soft pinks, and pastels. After all, what could it hurt?
After looking through all of my lipsticks, I decided that I needed to add some seasonal makeup goals to my routine. After researching the trends, I decided to invest in a few Spring-ish looks on my next Ulta run. Here’s what I plan to try more of this Summer:
Last year I had so much for which to be thankful. Looking back, I can’t help but think about all the highs and lows. The first part of the year is always the most exciting for me. That is the time in which I start to put my plans in motion. I use previous years to build upon for the next.
Last year, I took some time off to get myself together. I went on a few trips to reflect on my life and try to prioritize my business. The time away helped me to come up with some pretty good ideas for the future. Oftentimes, it’s in those still moments that you have your greatest moments of clarity. I have learned that it is critical to my growth and elevation.
As this month comes to an end, I am excited to share what I have to look forward to in 2017. I have planned my entire year and it is going to be an exciting one. For the next twelve months, I hope to engage my readers more by allowing you to get more involved with my posts. I have a few giveaways that involve products for men and women in the Spring. I will be connecting with more entrepreneurs for my first Pop Up Shop in April. I’m excited about the photo shoot for Ponch Cosmetics’ Spring lipstick line. Finally, I plan to end the year by giving back with my event that I haven’t planned in two years! I hope that it will be the highlight of this year.
Stay tuned to find out what all I have in store. I hope to make 2017 as stimulating for my readers as well as for me. Last year was great, but 2017 will be my best year ever! If not, it won’t be due to lack of effort on my part. What do you look forward to in 2017?
So, after the rehearsal video was posted on Youtube, I received quite a few inquiries about a certain single female in the Faces of Beauty Extravaganza. Although all of the participants in the auction are very attractive, one in particular sparked some interest because she was a new, fresh face. I recently caught up with Kia Briggs and asked her to introduce herself to East Texans. Here’s what she wants you to know about her…..
Ponch: So, you’re going to be participating in the Faces of Beauty Extravaganza on Saturday, December 20. Are you excited?
Kia: Im really excited and its an awesome cause.
Ponch: Since you’re a newcomer to East Texas, why don’t you tell us who you really are and where you’re from.
Kia: My name is Kia Briggs I’m originally form Detroit , Mi but I moved here from Atlanta.
Ponch: How did you end up in Texas?
Kia: My son accepted a scholarship from Southern Methodist University and I decided I was ready for a change.
Ponch: Have you ever done any modeling or an event such as this one?
Kia: I’ve played around with a little modeling but I’ve never participated in an event like this.
Ponch: So, what do you do for a living?
Kia: I’m a Licensed Massage Therapist.
Ponch: So, what do you look for in a mate?
Kia: Of course he must love life, having fun and being around great people.
Ponch: You’re a beautiful woman. Why do you think you’re still single?
Kia: OMG…. I ask myself all the time and so does my mother I think she has a bigger problem with me being single than I do (laughing) I really believe that the Lord has a perfect mate for me and when its time it’ll happen.
Ponch: What does a guy have to do to get your attention?
Kia: A guy would have to make me laugh, not take himself to seriously to get my attention, and oh yea he must have a job and a car!!! lol
Ponch: Do you think a woman should ask a guy out?
Kia: I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a woman asking a man out times have changed I was told a closed mouth don’t get fed, personally I’ve never done it. I’m a little shy and kind of old fashioned I like the guy to make the first move.
Ponch: What did you think of the guys at rehearsal?
Kia: I thought all the men at the rehearsal were handsome in their own way it was so much to choose from. I love to have a variety!
Ponch: How do you feel about the issue of domestic violence?
Kia: Domestic violence is a crime that is overlooked way to often. It has affected so many people directly or indirectly at least once in their lives. That’s why I’m honored to be a part of this event to raise awareness and have a voice for women who are afraid or unable to speak because they are no longer with us.
Ponch: So, what’s next for you, Ms. Briggs?
Kia: Right now I’m focusing on building my business and making sure my son finishes school.
To meet this beautiful young woman and learn more, you must attend the Faces of Beauty Extravaganza on Saturday, December 20, at Maude Cobb Convention Center in Longview, Texas.
